About Toss Wok

Toss Wok began as Widodo Kitchen (widodokitchen.com), a personal recipe website created to solve a very simple personal problem: I kept forgetting my own recipes whenever I went grocery shopping. Instead of searching through old notes or trying to remember every ingredients, I decided to build a website where I could easily access my recipes anytime. In addition, Over time, friends and family also began asking me to share my recipes. Having everything available online made it much easier, I could simply send them the website rather than rewriting the recipe each time.

I was born in Jakarta, Indonesia, and moved to Melbourne, Australia, in 2011. I continue to work during the day, while spending much of my spare time exploring photography and cooking. Cooking has always been something I genuinely enjoy, and I am self-taught in cooking and learn from my mother, father and aunty too. I love experimenting with ingredients, exploring different cuisines and continuously learning new techniques.

For me, food is more than a list of ingredients and cooking instructions. I also enjoy discovering the stories behind each dish, including its history, cultural background and place of origin. Understanding these stories gives every recipe more meaning and helps bring a little more soul into the food I prepare.

I am a technology professional specialising in Data and Artificial Intelligence, and I was a web developer too and still have strong interest in web design and digital creativity. Toss Wok has been designed and built entirely by me (alone) from scratch from the Content Management System Application, API (back end) until the front end including the mobile application (will release soon), combining my professional technology experience with my passion for food results this website.

Widodo Kitchen has evolved through many upgrades over the years, and its transformation into Toss Wok marks the beginning of a new chapter. The new name reflects a broader vision: sharing recipes, food stories, photography and inspiration from Indonesia, Australia and beyond. More features and experiences are on the way, so stay tuned!
